The University of Crete (UoC) is a multi-disciplinary, non-profit higher education and research organization. The University Hospital of Heraklion provides the setting in which the clinical activities of the School of Medicine take place. The Medical Physics Department possesses a strong expertise in scientific topics related to medical radiation protection and dosimetry. It has a permanent staff of eight medical physicists supported by post-doctoral researchers and research collaborators. The department employs all the dedicated equipment in order to carry out dose measurements and optimize diagnostic and interventional X-ray examinations.
UoC has the expertise in medical physics, medical dosimetry, radiation protection research and data analysis necessary to successfully carry out a research project on the impacts of radiation doses associated with medical practices.
